Who We Are

The company was founded in Tenino, Washington in 1976 and produced floating docks for residential customers. It was purchased by Wendell and Pauline Stroud in 1988.

Marine Floats subsequently moved to a facility off of the Thea Foss Waterway in Tacoma and continued doing business there for over 40 years. The site allowed Marine Floats to focus on salt water dock projects and to pioneer a construction process that allowed docks to be built in large sections offsite and delivered largely complete.

In the 1990s, the firm began development of commercial marinas starting with the Quartermaster Marina on Vashon Island. Marine Floats projects scale and scope has grown dramatically since then.

Listing of salmon under the Endangered Species Act brought all permitting of docks and piers in the Puget Sound area to a standstill in 1999. Since then, Marine Floats has turned its expertise in navigating the increasing complexity of the permitting process into a strategic advantage for its clients. Marine Floats has embraced environmentally conscious building practices that allow for permit approvals in a highly regulated marine area.

Logan Brown became a partner in Marine Floats in 2017 after working his way up in the company for many years. In 2020, the company moved to a new location off of the Middle Waterway in Tacoma and continues its long tradition of building superior projects with a focus on customer satisfaction.
